Alloy 33 UNS N08033 1.4591 X1CrNiMoCuN33-32-1 UNS R20033 is a relatively new chromium-based corrosion resistant austenitic material introduced in 1995. It offers outstanding resistance to highly oxidizing media. Corrosion resistance is enhanced by additions of molybdenum and copper.
The high nitrogen content results in a small grain size in the solution-annealed condition which gives the material a high yield strength and excellent toughness properties.
Typical applications of Alloy 33 UNS N08033 1.4591 X1CrNiMoCuN33-32-1 UNS R20033 include heat exchangers, vessels, tubes and other equipment for sulphuric acid plants, sulphuric acid heat recovery and distribution systems, nitric-hydrofluoric acid pickling plants, seawater systems, evaporation plants for salts and alkalis, bleaching plants for chemical pulp, plate or tubular exchangers using brackish water or seawater as a coolant and lightweight strutures in the offshore industry.
